Steven Nevada Sold at Auction Prices

b. 1945 -

Steven Nevada - Standing before his easel, artist Steven Nevada attacks canvases using over-sized brushes that are loaded with acrylic paint. Approaching paint application with bursting energy, Nevada produces dreamy, romantic landscapes, magnificent florals, and garden scenes that are reminiscent of the French Impressionists' works. To watch Nevada paint is to experience his bursting delight as he moves colors to and fro on the canvas until he creates shapes that seem to mysteriously form and appear. Followers of Nevada's work are intrigued with his many garden scenes which often feature a lady in a large-brimmed hat and a full-length dress, sashed at the waist; the lady is often gathering flowers with the help of a small girl or two. The lady garbed in late 19th Century dress, who frequents Nevada's works, also adds to his works' French Impressionistic flavor. Nevada's works hang in private collections; he has designed and created unique, commissioned works for offices and medical centers; his paintings have hung in a variety of galleries. He's been the subject of many news articles and has taken awards.

Born in Berkley, California, September 11, 1945, Nevada spent most of his childhood in eastern Pennsylvania. He is a alumnus of Valley Forge Military Academy, Pa.; he attended the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business and received his bachelor's degree from Alderson-Broaddus, Philippe, West Virginia. Over the last thirty years, he and Pat raised three children; now eight grandchildren visit and romp through Nevada's perennial gardens which he designed and tends with the same enthusiasm and creativity that he brings to painting.

From his early childhood, Nevada evidenced a talent for drawing and ultimately established a practiced routine of copying works by Monet, Renoir, Morisot, Cézanne and Pissarro as a method of self training. Over the years, he has developed his own style and subject matter. Nevada 's home, with attached studio and gallery, is located in a plot of woods near the small village of New Chester, Pennsylvania -10 miles east of Gettysburg. The artist designed and built the studio and gallery.

When not in his studio or gardens, the artist can be found in his kitchen cooking, baking bread and frequently concocting unique tasty combinations of foods for his family to test.

According to Nevada, “...all life is art.”
