Condition B+: repaired tears, creases, restoration and restored pin holes in margins; minor creases and abrasions in image. Currently the capital of the small Indian state of Meghalaya, and the former capital of Assam, Shillong is referred to as "The Scotland of the East," because of its geological similarity to the Scottish Highlands. Newsome depicts none of the area's physical attractions in this poster, concentrating instead on the colorful attire of a local woman and the innovative manner in which she is transporting her baby.

Currently called Varanasi, Benares is considered one of the most sacred cities in India. Situated on the banks of the holy Ganges River, it is a place for both Hindus and Buddhists to make pilgrimage. Here, a lively and colorful scene along the banks of the Ganges also illustrates a temple in the background with the steps leading down to the river where pilgrims would descend to immerse themselves in the holy water.

Condition B+ / B: repaired tears at edges; creases and abrasions in margins and image; pin holes in top and bottom margins; side margins trimmed off; slight offsetting in lower left image. Newsome designed many posters advertising travel to India, illustrating combinations of local scenes with famous landmarks and local people. Here, for a small, West Bengali town, she depicts one of the town's major structures, the Mazaar of Pir Ghazi Mubarak Ali Sahab. It is a shrine in honor of a holy man whose intense meditation brought an end to a severe drought in the 17th century. This is the Bengali version.

Isipatana (also known as Sarnath) is one of four sites mentioned by the Buddha as adestination for pilgrimages. The Mulagandhakuti Vihara monastery (depicted in white) marks the place where the Buddha spent his first rainy season. The Dhamek Stupa, the circular structure in the background on the right, was constructed in the year 500 to commemorate the Buddha's activities in the area.
