        engraved throughout with title and 10 hand-coloured etched plates after Newton, title lightly foxed, occasional marginal soiling, restitched and loose in contemporary roan-backed buff wrappers, manuscript label on upper cover, lower wrapper with traces of title of 'Scraps from the Sketchbook of Henry Alken' of 1832, a little rubbed and soiled, spine worn and repaired, preserved in original green cloth drop-back box, oblong 4to, J.Wallis, [c.1823]. Sterne's Sentimental Journey was published in 1795 with 12 plates by Newton; this is a reissue (and ?reworking) of the plates with imprints removed.
