Noheimer, a prolific artist and educator, was born in Cincinnati to Hungarian immigrants. He studied and taught at the Art Academy of Cincinnati and served as president of the Cincinnati Art Club (1961-63). Ultimately, he was a professor of graphic design and director of admissions at the University of Cincinnati School of Design, Architecture and Art. He worked out of a two-room studio on Chase Avenue in Northside, where he lived with his parents and first wife, Wanda. He exhibited at the Cincinnati Art Museum in 1932 and 1934 and at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in 1935. Around the time he painted the rathskeller mural (for the home's original owner, Kroger vice president Joseph Bappert), as well as murals for the University of Cincinnati, the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County and at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. Painting from scaffolding in order to reach high on his canvases, Noheimer was known as a "temple artist." Noheimer died in 1982, in Bennington, Vermont.

    Matthias John Noheimer ( American, Ohio 1909-1982) oil on canvas street scene of Automobiles in the 1900. Capturing other trades and early 1900's street scenes venders. Nostalgic, fok art and Americana. The was commissioned for the Beatrice Creamery of Chicago IL as shown by label on verso. Signed in lower left. Measuring approx 30" tall x 40" wide canvas size. See photos. Mathias, born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he studied at the University of Cincinnati and the Art Academy of Cincinnati. His work is in many public and private collections, mainly in the Cincinnati area. Noheimer illustrated several books, including Any Day Now, 1938, A Baker's Dozen, 1939, and Ali Baba, in 1943 Exhibitions: Cincinnati Museum, 1932, 1934 San Francisco Museum of Art, 1935 Cincinnati New Group, 1935, 1936 American Institute of Graphic Arts, 1945 Direct Mail Advertising Association, 1944 Prize winner Ê The Beatrice Creamery Co. was founded in in 1894 by George Everett Haskell and William W. Bosworth, who started business in a building acquired from a bankrupt creamery of the same name. They created an innovate program in giving farmers a free hand cream separator so that cream could be separated at the farm and sold to the creamery, with part of the proceeds applied to the cost of the separator. The program was very successful and the Beatrice Creamery quickly grew, moving its headquarters to Lincoln in 1898 and later to Chicago. Its "Meadow Gold" brand became nationally known and in 1946 the company changed its name to Beatrice Foods; it was one of the largest dairy producers in the country.
