Nottingham 1934 Catalogue note: Nottingham was the assistant Virginia State Art administrator for the WPA. Nottingham's artwork is in the National Gallery of Art (Washington D.C.) and The Virginia Museum. She participated in the 1938 annual exhibition of Contemporary American Sculpture, Painting, Watercolor, Drawing and Prints at the Whitney Museum in NYC. Nottingham's papers are in the Archives of American Art at the Smithsonian.

Known as landscape painter and professor of art and art history at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia 1941-6. Studied at Randolph Macon Woman's College; Art Students League with H. Sloan, K.H. Miller, K. Nicolaides; McDowell School. Exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, 1934; Rockefeller Center, New York City 1936; Whitney Museum of American Art, 1938, 1950; Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, 1934-37, 1939, 1940 (solo), 1942, 1945; Southern States Art League, 1935.
