        Nottingham, Mary Elizabeth Virginia (1907-1956) CART RIDE IN SUMMER LANDSCAPE watercolor, framed signed & dated: lower left, Nottingham, 1940 sight size: H19" W27" *Artist biography: Born in Salisbury, Connecticut. Known as landscape painter and professor of art and art history at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia 1941-6. Studied at Randolph Macon Woman's College; Art Students League with H. Sloan, K.H. Miller, K. Nicolaides; McDowell School. Exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, 1934; Rockefeller Center, New York City 1936; Whitney Museum of American Art, 1938, 1950; Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, 1934-37, 1939, 1940 (solo), 1942, 1945; Southern States Art League, 1935. Works can be found at Virginia Museum of Fine Arts; Randolph Macon College; Blackstone College for Girls; Winchester High School.
