        Signed in the lower right. Seated female nude with a blue ribbon in her hair, gazing into a mirror. Stretched canvas, unframed. Titled on the stretcher. Notations in the canvas verso: Left Bank Aug '66, Century City Cal '67. A New Jersy born artist that studied at the Cleveland School of Art. Mr. Nowak was an illustrator for the Superman comics until 1943 when he served as a battalion artist for the remainder of WWII. After the war, he moved to California where he painted and found work as an illustrator for the Daily Independent. Provenance: From the Estate of Prominent Collector, Leon Zielinski, Macomb County, MI. Wolf's Gallery, Cleveland, 9-19-1991.
