      Bertha E. Noyes (1876 - 1966) "Porter Timeche Hopi War Dancer" Mixed Media on Paper. Painter Bertha Noyes was born in Washington, D.C. in 1876. She was a member of many arts groups including three in Massachusetts: the Boston Art Club, Newport Art Association, and Provincetown Art Association; four in Washington, D.C.: Washington Watercolor Club, American Federation of Arts, Washington Society of Artists, and the Arts Group of Washington. She was also a member of the National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors, New York City. Noyes studied at the Corcoran School of Art, in Washington, D.C.; and with Charles Hawthorne.
