    Mina Fonda Ochtman (1862-1924) Untitled (Autumn Landscape) Circa 1900 The American Impressionist composition is signed lower left front. Mina Ochtman was married to the American Tonalist Leonard Ochtman also represented in this auction. Together they became founding members of the Cos Cob Art Colony in Mianus, Connecticut alongside artists like John Henry Twachtman and Childe Hassam. Canvas measures 16 x 22 with a framed size of 19.5 x 25.5 inches.     Mina Ochtman Oil on Canvas Painting

    15 1/2" by 19 1/2" framed. 12" by 16" unframed. Mina Fonda Ochtman (1862 - 1924) was active/lived in Connecticut, New Hampshire. Mina Ochtman is known for Landscape. Born in Laconia, New Hampshire, she went to New York City in 1886 where she studied at the Art Students League with Kenyon Cox. In 1891, she married artist Leonard Ochtman, and they moved to Greenwich, Connecticut. They acquired fine property they named Greyledge, which they used in many of their impressionist landscape paintings. They were active in the Cos Cob Art Association, and in 1912, she and her husband and others formed the Greenwich Society of Artists. Her painting became secondary to tending family, but she was a member of the National Association of Women Artists and several watercolor societies.
