Canadian artist Daphne Odjig is a descendant of the Potawatomi tribe, which is part of the Great Lakes Tree Fires tribal circle. Inspired by Cornelius Kreighoff, early Daphne Odjig paintings were natural landscapes of Canada. Later, during the 1950s, she viewed a series of abstract and cubist paintings at the Royal Ontario Museum and gained an interest in the techniques of Pablo Picasso. 

Daphne Odjig's art includes a collection of paintings depicting Nanabush legends; these original artworks were bought by the Federal Department of Cultural Affairs. In 2005, forty years of limited edition Daphne Odjig art prints were exhibited at the Kamloops Art Gallery in British Columbia.
