Dublin born artist 1948 , Clare O’Farrell showed an aptitude for drawing and use of colour, at an early age. Claire’s paintings capture the atmosphere and feeling of the moment. They are a composition of fragmented pieces of pigment, which seem to conflict with each other, but yet all the time what comes through is a strength or integrity that only years of study of the human condition can provide.

Clare is self taught, and is highly critical of her work. Her interest has always been purely figurative, using her family, parents, sisters ,brothers, and in later years her children as models. Her greatest inspiration was the German artist Kathe Kollwitz and Oscar Kokoschka.
