      Est: €4,000 - €6,000

acrylic on canvas signed, dated and titled verso 85,8 x 56,1 in Ona B. about the color red, “From 1992 on, red became the signature color in my art as I, influenced by Zen-Buddhism and japanese Archery (Kydo), which I practiced for many years, became determined to capture the force of the moment in painting. This also coincides with the death of my mother, whom I was very close to. The color red enables me to maintain this connection. To me it radiates warmth and safety. I came to know and appreciate the strong connection between Chinese culture and red while working on two of my larger exhibitions in China’s National Museum in Peking in 2006 and Shanghai’s Art Museum in 2003, as well as in preparations for my contribution to the Biennale in Peking in 2008. Luck is associated with red. What fascinated me greatly in Tibet was the intense spirituality that is expressed through red. To me red implies positive emotions and benevolent energy.”
