Orrock 1932 Water colours by James Orrock fetch up to 5.300 euros at international auctions Overall dimensions, framed: 51 x 67 cm This water colour by the Scottish watercolourist James Orrok shows a farmhouse in Sussex, as it is typical for Southern England. Stone houses with thatched roofs stand close beside each other; a flock of chickens are picking in front of the farm. The water colour shows some foxing in the upper area. The matt has water stains along the lower edge. The slender frame shows only minimal traces of age and wear. The water colour is signed and dated lower left J. Orrock, 1932. The overall dimensions are framed 51 x 67 cm, unframed 33 x 50 cm. James Orrock (1829-1913) James Orrock was an established British collector, illustrator and watercolourist. He studied under James Ferguson and William L. Leitch and later at the Nottingham School of Design. After he moved in 1866 to London, Orrok became a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours and exhibited in 1871 his works at the Royal Scottish Academy und der Royal Academy. James Orrok died in 1913 in Shepperton. His works are part of the collection of the Lady Lever Gallery in Port Sunlight. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
