    Ernestine Osver (Missouri / New York / Indiana / Illinois, 1909-2007) silo and farm scene watercolor on paper signed lower right. From the personal collection of Chicago/Santa Fe artist Ramon Shiva (American; 1893-1963). Married to Arthur Osver, Ernestine Betsberg lived with and was married to her artist husband during most of the 20th century. He died at age 93 and she at age 98 in 2007. They maintained separate studios and painting styles, with each of them becoming recognized modernists in their own right and described as "two of the last and best modernist painters in the history of St. Louis. She graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1938, and her husband a year earlier. They both were students of Boris Anisfeld.
