Oil on canvas Hungary / Germany, 1912 Ferenc Paczka (1856-1926) - Hungarian painter, later lived in Berlin Signed lower right 'Paczka Ferenc' Verso titled and inscribed on old handwritten label Lyrical portrait of a young bride in an impressionist manner Bronzed ornamented frame Overall dimensions framed: 56.5 x 46.5 cm Good Condition Paintings by the artist Ferenc Paczka are characterized by a variety of motifs and technical diversity, so they are particularly sought after by collectors and fetch up to 44,000 Euros at international auctions The Hungarian and later Berlin-based painter Ferenc Paczka created this painting around 1912, depicting the portrait of a Jewish bride. Executed in an impressionist manner the bride appears in a three-quarter portrait, placed in front of a scenic background looking slightly towards the viewer. Her hair is adorned with a wreath of white flowers, while the whole composition is characterized by a slightly impasto brushwork in predominantly green, delicate to dark colors. Ferenc Paczka created here a lyrical portrait of a woman with particular expressiveness. The painting is signed lower right 'Paczka Ferenc' and is in good condition. A small retouched area at the upper left as well as at the right upper corner; tiny losses of color are visible at the lower left of the background. Otherwise, the painting is overall in very good condition. The frame is slightly damaged at the lower left corner. The stretcher measures 45 x 33 cm. The framed dimensions are 56.5 x 46.5 cm. Ferenc Paczka (1856-1926) Ferenc Paczka was born 1856 in Hungarian Monor. He began his studies of art in Munich under Diez and continued in Paris under Zichy. A while later Paczka moved to Berlin, where he lived until his death. Besides religious and history paintings that show the influences of both the Art Nouveau and Symbolism to some extent, Paczka also painted numerous landscapes and portraits.
