A painter of portraits, landscapes, and still life, Page worked in Boston, Nantucket, and Paris. The Boston Art Club lists his addresses as Paris in 1889; 90 Westland Avenue, Boston in 1891 and 1894; Sharon, MA in 1905; Fenway Studios, Boston, MA in 1906; and 310 Fenway Studios in 1907. Page is also listed as living in Nantucket, MA in 1929.Page studied at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School and was the pupil of Gustave Boulanger (1824-1888) and Jules Lefebvre (1836-1911) at the Academy Julien in Paris. He was a member of the Boston Museum School Alumni Association; a life member of the Portland Society of Artists in ME; the Springfield Art Society in MA; the American Federation of Arts; the Massachusetts State Art Commission; and the Boston Commission on Historic Sites. Page exhibited at the Paris Salon for three seasons and the Boston Art Club, 1889, 1890, 1891, 1894, 1905, 1906, and 1907. Provenance: Georges Chapellier was a Belgian art dealer who came from London to America after WWI and opened a gallery in New York. His estate was inherited by three daughters in 1978. A portion of the estate was descended to John Rosenberger who operated Rosenberger Galleries on Long Island. By descent in the Long Island family. All Chapellier labeled and or exhibited items descend from the Georges Chapellier Estate while some items only cited as Rosenberger may have other sources by Rosenberger prior to inheritance by the Long Island family.       Oil on canvas painting with some impasto of the Old South church, looking west, Unsigned Attributed to Walter Gilman Page (1862-1934) Overall 14.5” x 18.5”, window 11.5” x 15.5” Overall good condition. Walter Gilman Page studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and was a pupil of Gustave Boulanger (1824-1888) and Jules Lefebvre (1836-1911) at the Académie Julien in Paris. He was a founder of the Boston Public School Art League and maintained his studio at the Fenway Studios. He became interested in fostering the spirit of old New England through his paintings and his work with organizations such as the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities, the Sons of the Revolution, and the Massachusetts Society. He moved full time to Nantucket sometime in the 1920’s where he spent some of his time painting at the Forge s , one of the artist colony waterfront studio’s on straight wharf on Nantucket . He passed away at the woodbox on Fair St in 1934
