          Paine, Roxy (American, contemporary), Poppy Leaf, 1998, plaster cast multiple, signed, dated and numbered 2/13 on the underside, 9.5 x 5.75 inches, approximately 2 inches tall. Made in conjunction with Paine's installation Crop, that was exhibited at the Musee d' Art Americain, Giverny and later the Terra Museum of American Art, Chicago in 1998. According to the catalog from that exhibition, Paine grew the poppies from seeds, then cast the different parts of the plant in plaster, from which he took molds. A photograph of the process, and a very similar piece, are shown on page 8 of the exhibition catalog. (The catalog is not included - last 2 photos for reference only).
