PARINI ANDREA (1906 - 1975). Chess series vases. Complete set of painted ceramic chess, each vase has a lid except the towers. The king presents on the vase the royal crown, the scepter and the castle adorned with the writing "regalità", next to it are the tables of the law, the state treasure and the armor. The cover is a half-length bust of a king with a crown and mantle, inside which is the miniature of the king himself in the guise of a soldier and the tasks that are due to him, such as tax collection and military defense. The queen presents on the vase the royal crown, the scepter and the mirror adorned with the word "beltà", then there are the symbols of the typical activities of a queen such as weaving, ceramics and writing. The lid is a half queen bust with blond braids, the crown and the mantle that contains the miniature of other typical activities such as reading and music. The bishop applied the sword and shield to the vase, the iron bracelet, the trumpet and a feather (symbol of freedom, purity and truth) surrounded by the word "eroismo"; the lid is a half-bust of the bishop decorated with a rich cloak and with a mannequin face, inspired by the metaphysical works of De Chirico. The horse applied the typical elements of chivalry to the vase, in order the saddle, the irons, the whip and the stirrup, while the brightly colored equine head cover has a cavity laterally from which two pegasi in yellow and blue branch out. The towers are the same in form and theme but of different subject: one has male characters and the other has female characters, both are united by the presence of a hanged dead character. Sep. 25, 2014

            Andrea Parini (Caltagirone 1906-Gorizia 1975)

            Est: -

Andrea Parini (Caltagirone 1906-Gorizia 1975). Cavallo e Alfiere, terracotta smaltata, firmati e datati Parini '50 sui coperchi. Cavallo: alt. cm 40,5, Alfiere: alt. cm 41,5. Andrea Parini (Caltagirone 1906-Gorizia 1975). Horse and Knight, enamelled terracotta signed and dated Parini '50 on lids.
