Henry Woodbridge Parton was born in Hudson, New York and began his artistic learning early in life by taking lessons from his older brothers, Albert Parton and Ernest Parton. While he is especially well known for his dramatic landscapes with luminous skies, Henry also made beautifully observed figure paintings, still life paintings, and portraits. He is known to have exhibited his works at the Royal Academy in England and the National Academy of Design in New York where he died in 1933.
