Irene Pattinson Sold at Auction Prices

Irene Pattinson was a noted abstract painter in mid-century San Francisco. Her work was shown at the Oakland Art Museum, (Now Oakland Museum of California); California Palace of the Legion of Honor; San Francisco Art Institute; the Richmond Art Center; Lucien Labaudt Gallery; and she received a solo show at the San Francisco Museum of Art (now SFMOMA).

Pattinson studied at the famed California School of Fine Arts (now San Francisco Art Institute) in its abstract expressionist heyday, when the revolving cast of professors included David Park, Richard Diebenkorn, Clyfford Still, Elmer Bischoff and Hassel Smith. During the 1950â??s she was the President of the San Francisco Women Artists Association, which organized annual shows for women artists at SFMOMA and other venues.
