Good condition, all over craquelure; small missing chip right center edge. Painting measures 20" x 24". Frame measures 28" x 24". From AskArt: "Painter, muralist. Born in Wimbledon, England on Sept. 6, 1876, Pawla came to the U.S. as a boy. At 14 he enlisted in the Navy and remained until the end of WWI. He studied art in Europe and was active in NYC before moving to Santa Barbara, CA in the 1920s. He exhibited locally and maintained a home there through the 1940s. In 1929 he worked in San Francisco and in 1931 commissions took him back to NYC. Pawla was a resident of Monterey before his death at Fort Ord, CA on Dec. 18, 1964. His work includes marines, coastal scenes, and landscapes. Member: Royal Art Society (New So. Wales); Santa Barbara AA; San Diego Artists Society. Exh: Santa Cruz Art League, 1929; GGIE, 1939.
