          Sep. 07, 2024

18th Century Letter Heading: Antonio Pazzi After Giovanni Domenico Campiglia ("G" Figures in Discussion)

          Est: $40 - $50

18th century letter heading, framed. Campiglia (designer), Pazzi (printmaker). Measures 2.75" x 3" inches. Frame 5.75" x 5.75". This classical etching, designed by Giovanni Domenico Campiglia and printed by Antonio Pazzi (1706-1767). The work features three figures seated around a large letter "G." The central and left figures appear to be in discussion, while the right figure gestures as if explaining or arguing. A bird, possibly an eagle, is prominently placed beneath the central figure. The composition is rendered with fine lines and detailed shading, characteristic of high-skill classical printmaking.  Pazzi learned drawing from Piamontini and engraving from Cosimo Mogalli before studying under Giovanni Domenico.
