WEITE LANDSCHAFT MIT RUINE UND TAUBENSCHLAG Öl auf Holz. 43 x 68 cm. In dekorativem Rahmen. Von leicht erhöhtem Standpunkt fällt der Blick über eine weite Landschaft, unter hohem leuchtend blauem Himmel mit weißen Wolkenformationen. Auf der rechten Bildseite ist eine Ruinenanlage mit hohem rechteckigen Turm zu sehen, an dem ein großer heller Taubenschlag befestigt ist. Darauf sitzend ein Taubenpärchen, während weitere Tauben den hohen Turm umkreisen. Auf dem Weg, der am Turm vorbeiführt, finden sich ein Pferdekarren, einige Frauen, die Körbe tragen sowie ein kleines Mädchen, das vergeblich an einer Schnur zieht, an der eine Ziege befestigt ist. Auf der linken Seite zwei elegante Reiter in Begleitung eines weiteren Herren, der Hunde an der Leine hält, den Blick auf das in der Ferne liegende Dorf mit hohem Kirchturm und einer Schafherde gerichtet. Im linken Vordergrund zudem eine sitzende Frau mit Korb und Weinkrug sowie ein schlafender liegender Mann mit einem Reisebündel. Zudem ist eine von einer Mauer umgebene Kapelle, die rückseitig von Bäumen umgeben ist, zu erkennen. Harmonische, teils humorige Malerei in vielen differenzierten Farbtönen. Rest., kleine Retuschen. Anmerkung: Ein vergleichbarer Turm, jedoch ohne Taubenschlag, ist auf einem signierten Gemälde des Künstlers wiederzufinden, das bei Sotheby's in New York am 30. Peeters, Gillis Egidius: Flusslandschaft mit einem Gehöft und Landvolk

Niederländische Flusslandschaft mit einem Gehöft und Landvolk. Öl auf Holz, parkettiert. 40 x 56,5 cm. Am unteren Rand monogrammiert und datiert "GP 164...". Gillis Peeters, der ältere Bruder der Marinemaler Catharina, Jan I und Bonaventura, lernte in der Werkstatt des niederländischen Blumenmalers Anthony Claesz. d. J. Im Jahr 1634 wurde Gillis gemeinsam mit seinem Bruder Bonaventura, mit dem er sich ein Atelier teilte, Mitglied in der Antwerpener St. Lucasgilde. Obgleich auch Gillis verschiedene Marinedarstellungen malte, wählte er doch meist die niederländische Landschaft zu seinem Motiv. Vorliegendes Werk mit der Reet gedeckten Bauernhütte auf einer Anhöhe bei einem Fluss zeichnet ein eher romantisches Stimmungsbild im Vergleich zu den kühleren, realistischeren Landschaften etwa Meindert Hobbemas.
