Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, grew up in New England, moved through a succession of suburban tract homes and at an early age developed an attachment to the ancient world, Christopher’s work pivots around the interstices between Myth, Memory, History and Nostalgia. His paintings, drawings, assemblages and ephemeral installations bear the residue of their own provenance with little distinction between process and product.

Pelley dropped out of High School to travel across India, studied at Syracuse University and received his BFA summa cum laude from Arizona State University.

He currently divides his time between New York City and Roma, with increasing detours to China. He has exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, Denver, Santa Fe, Roma, Budapest and Beijing. His work is in the collections of the Mint Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the Austin Museum of Art in Austin Texas among other notable collections.
