Kunstvereine und bey der Verloosung 1830 gewonnen von Herrn Sr. Excellenz Herrn Graf Colloredo Kais. Oestr. Gesandter in Dresden, auf No. 725. 1 Elle 19 Zoll breit, 1 Elle 7 Zoll hoch.". Date: c. 1830 Description: Little is known about Gottfried Leberecht Kühne, a pupil of J. Friedrich Matthäi at the Dresden Academy, although he was regularly represented at the he was regularly represented at the Dresden art exhibition with landscapes, histories and fruit pieces. He also painted portraits. From his journey to Italy in the years 1828 to 1829 he brought back the "View of Capri", which the Sächsische Kunstverein bought and thus encouraged the artist. Kühne chose the character of the jagged rocks on Capri as the subject of his painting, and he achieved this through a view of the mountain range, which is lost in the distance. The painter's classicist training is still unmistakable, in which the people in the people are assigned only a staffa role in the landscape.
