      Massachusetts, Arizona, Illinois,1871-1947 Impressionist depiction of birch trees covered in vibrant yellow leaves framing a winding river through an open field. Peyton studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and under artists Aman-Jean, Raphael Collin and Olivier Merson in Paris. Peyton was an established portrait artist until 1903 when she travelled to Arizona with her husband. From then she painted mainly Western landscapes and depictions of Native Americans, including the Hopi people.
