Born in Munich, Erwin Pfrang is a contemporary painter and printmaker. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, he spent a large portion of his career in Italy. Through abstract figuration that may visually question reality, his paintings and prints evoke a striking emotional response. His loose, painterly style characterizes his work. Major museum collections that include Erwin Pfrang’s work are the Albertina in Vienna, the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard, Massachusetts, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, among others.
