16 hand-colored engravings (intaglio prints). Representing characters with clothing belonging to traditional regions of the world. The copies must have been part of an unidentified travel book. Their execution was carried out by the engraver Pierre following the original designs made by Philippoteaux, between the years 1855 and 1859. They were published by Dufor, Mulat & Boulanger in the Laurent printing press in Paris. Although they are generally in good condition, some of them have stains, all of which have the main colored scene protected with tissue paper. Measurements: 25 x 16.2 cm. each

Circle of FELIX PHILIPPOTEAUX (Paris, 1815 - Paris, 1884). "Battle of the Seven Years' War", circa 1840. Oil on canvas. Measurements: 195.5 x 309 cm; 216 x 330 cm (frame). In this canvas a scene of the seven years war is represented, it is not a violent battle as it was usual, but the solemn moment in which finished the battle the dead are counted. The work takes place in a natural setting dominated by a dark sky, open in the upper zone to the moonlight, which determines a very gloomy illumination, of brightness and half shadows. The action is concentrated in the foreground, where several soldiers on foot observe the deceased swirling around each other. Beyond the foreground, the narration is blurred by the effect of distance, thus achieving a convincing atmospheric impression. Through its precise brushwork, the work expresses a dynamic, theatrical, narrative and expressive style, supported by a solid handling of light, composition and color. Thus, we see an apparently chaotic scene, although rigorously studied. The subject matter is allusive to a historical event, which was a very common thematic resource during this period. The historicist incursions at first were inspired by scenes from Christian history, scenes from mythology or classical antiquity. However, in this case the scene is captured from a realistic point of view despite the brushstroke, the author has conceived the work as if it were a documentary element, presenting himself as a witness of the events. History painting was traditionally considered the most important genre. This preeminence was explained by a certain concept that art had to propose noble and credible examples. Therefore, the superiority of those artistic works in which what was narrated was considered elevated or noble was defended. However, in this case, as mentioned above, the author does not seek to narrate a story, but rather to show the gesture of the action, the chaos and the movement of a war battle. Henri Félix Emmanuel Philippoteaux was a French artist and illustrator, known primarily as a painter of battles. "He studied art in the studio of Léon Cogniet and exhibited for the first time at the Paris Salon of 1833. One of his best known works is a depiction of the Siege of Paris during the Franco-Prussian War, painted in the form of a cyclorama, a type of large panoramic painting inside a cylindrical platform designed to provide the viewer positioned in the center of the cylinder with a 360° view of the painting. Philippoteaux also produced a large number of works chronicling the rise and successes of Napoleon Bonaparte, including a portrait of Napoleon in his regimental uniform and a group of paintings of French victories in the Napoleonic Wars. Philippoteaux was awarded the Legion of Honor in 1846.

Una delle sue opere più note era una rappresentazione dell'assedio di Parigi durante la guerra franco-prussiana, dipinta a forma di ciclorama. Il ciclorama è un tipo di pittura panoramica all'interno di una piattaforma cilindrica progettata per fornire a uno spettatore in piedi al centro del cilindro, una vista a 360Â° del dipinto. Philippoteaux ha anche prodotto un gran numero di opere che raccontano l'ascesa e i successi di Napoleone Bonaparte, tra cui un ritratto nella sua uniforme di reggimento e un gruppo di dipinti delle vittorie francesi nelle guerre napoleoniche. Historique Régiment d’infanterie allemand au service de la France « Royal Pologne « . Ce régiment fut levé en 1740 par le baron d’Orlick. Par la suite 80e d’infanterie. Les régiments allemands (et écossais) se distinguaient par leur uniforme bleu (blanc pour les régiments français, rouge pour les suisses et irlandais). En juillet 1791, l’Assemblée Nationale décrète que l’uniforme sera blanc pour tous. On remarque le port de la cocarde blanche au chapeau, qui sera remplacée le 28 mai 1790 par une tricolore. Le drapeau à l’arrière plan est dépourvu des attributs royaux (soleil, aigles, fleurs de Lys ) qu’il portait à l’origine.

Historique Henri-Thomas Reubell (1742-1804), frère du député Jean-François Reubell (1747-1807), est ici à droite en tenue de capitaine-commandant du régiment Royal-Suédois, dans lequel il entra en 1761. Il porte la croix de chevalier de Saint-Louis, qu'il reçut le 22 mai 1783. Il se trouve aux côtés de son neveu Jean-Jacques Reubell (1777-1847), à gauche, porte-drapeau qui deviendra général et qui émigra aux États-Unis de 1809 à 1815.
