Alfredo Pirri Art for Sale and Sold Prices

b. 1957 -

Alfredo Pirri was born in Cosenza, Italy, in 1957. He lives and works in Rome, is one of the best-known artists working there. He attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and graduated with a degree in Painting.

His work ranges from painting to works on paper and installations created with mirrors which are then crushed by the artist or viewer himself, creating deformed and broken narration. His language reveals a continuous attention to space, surface and color, which creates real spaces of light. Each work thus becomes a spatial, emotional and temporal situation, where the viewer has the opportunity to come into and experience chromatic situations that disrupt and disorient him.

Alfredo Pirri is an artist of his time. His art indeed measures itself against the contemporary breakdown of values, exploring them in an awareness of the dramatic nature of everyday life. At the same time, he proceeds in the conviction that art is the only authentic redemption for humanity.

He has displayed his works at numerous national and international exhibitions including: MACRO Testaccio, Rome (2017); Nomas Foundation, Rome (2016); Museo Novecento, Florence (2015); London Design Festival (2015); Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna, Rome (2013), Palazzo Te, Mantua (2013) and Project Biennial D-0 ARK Underground Konjic in Bosnia Herzegovina (2013), where his installation Passi (Steps) is on permanent display; Museo Archeologico Nazionale Reggio Calabria, with the permanent work Piazza (2011); Come in Terra così in Cielo, Centro Arti Visive Pescheria, Pesaro (2007); Un été italien, Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris (2006); Biennale dell'Avana (2001); La Ville / Le Jardin / La Mémoire, French Academy in Rome - Villa Medici (2000); Minimalia, MoMa PS1, New York (1999); Korrespondenzen, Walter Gropius Bau, Berlin (1992); Venice Biennale d'Arte (1988).

He has recently worked with architects including: Nicola di Battista, ABDR, Efisio Pitzalis, Studio Labics, Studio PROAP Lisbon. He has taught at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, at the University La Sapienza in Rome, at the Accademia di Belle Arti of Urbino, and currently teaches painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti of Palermo.
