Karl Hanns Christian "Pit" by Frihling (born October 18, 1919 in Hamburg , † March 27, 2011 ) was a German painter , graphic artist and watercolorist .

After training in craftsmanship and military service , Frihling studied at the Landeskunstschule in Hamburg from 1945 to 1948. a. with Professors Alfred Mahlau and Karl Kaschak . From 1957 joined a semester with Gerhard Fietz at the same university. From 1958 to 1968 operated by Frihling in Hamburg and on the Dutch island of Terschelling a state-recognized art school . [2]

Pit von Frihlings work includes thousands of sketches, watercolors, paintings and works for churches. He was a "landscape painter, but not at all in the sense of the lovable little masters of the late 19th century" [6] . The versatile artistic spectrum includes abstract and figural works as well as works with sand and metal [2] . He "does not work in front of the motive. The pictures are only created in the silence of the studio " [6] .
Collaboration
