        Four (4) American and European artworks depicting landscapes. 1st item: Allen Ross Pittman (New Jersey/Tennessee, 1883-1969) casein paint on paper painting titled "Cumberland Falls, Kentucky," depicting a waterfall surrounded by rock and early autumn foliage. Signed "A. Ross Pittman" lower right. Biography: Pittman was a graduate of Vanderbilt University (1910) and attended the University of Tennessee medical school in Memphis, from 1912-1916. He then spent 12 years as a medical missionary in India, where he helped build a new hospital in Kasganj. Pittman returned to the U.S. in 1929, and accepted a position on staff at the New Jersey State Hospital in Trenton. He retired from medical practice in 1961. His prints are included in the collection of the Library of Congress and were published in Trenton Magazine and "The Healing Art: A History of the Medical Society of New Jersey from 1776-1966." In 1965 at the age 82 he was still active in his art career. (adapted from The McClung Museum of Natural History and Culture PastPerfect database). 2nd-3rd items: Two (2) European School oil on board paintings, including one (1) depicting a forest before the Matterhorn, a mountain of the Alps and one (1) depicting a seaside castle before a mountain range. Both initialed "GD" lower left. Both with museum accession numbers, en verso. 2nd item: Pastel on paper drawing depicting a landscape, possibly European, with buildings on a mountain in the background. Illegibly signed "C..." lower right. All items with museum accession numbers, en verso. All items unframed. Ranging in size from 9 1/2" H x 12 3/4" W to 11" H x 14 3/4" W. All items late 19th/mid 20th century.
