Paul Plaschke pastel - Louisville, Kentucky

      Est: -

Paul Plaschke pastel - Louisville, Kentucky Pastel on water marked paper of a mature woman in a sitting position. A sensitive portrait well executed attributed to Paul Plaschke. According to the great grandson of the artist only a few portraits were retained in a portfolio from his period teaching at the Louisville Art Academy. Plaschke co-founded the academy with fellow artist John Bauscher. Purchased from a descendant of the artist. Paper has toned, likely from the cardboard backing. Slight dark smudge transfer on the surface possibly from stacked storage prior to framing. Mat with significant transfer though image is fine. Should be reframed using non-acidic housing and an UV filtering glass. This work deserves it and should display well. 22 ½" x 18" image sight size framed to 32 ¼" x 26 ¼". Circa 1930 at Louisville, Kentucky
