Billie Pleffer Art for Sale and Sold Prices

Billie is an award winning writer and director. A Graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, her short film B I N O, premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2012, winning two major prizes; Best Short Film by the International Jury and Special Mention by the Children's Jury.

B I N O has gone on to be nominated for Best Film and Best Screenplay at the AACTA / AFI awards, Best Student Director at the Australian Director's Guild and screened at premium festivals nationally and internationally.



Billie began her career studying Photography and English at the College of Fine Arts and the University of NSW. Always interested in narrative, Billie’s photos of constructed images, capturing a story within one frame, won her the Photomedia Graduating Student Award. This focus on visual story grew into a unique visual style, which encapsulates her work.



BABY BABY funded by the Screen NSW Emerging Filmmaker Fund won the 2014 Australian Writer's Guild Award (AWGIE) for Best Short Film and Best Cinematography at the St Kilda Film Festival. It had it's Australian premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival and was selected to screen as the Flickerfest Opening Night film.



Billie was mentored by award winning commercial and drama director Garth Davis (LION, TOP OF THE LAKE) for FYSH, funded by the Screen Australia Hot Shots initiative, . FYSH premiered in 2017 In Competition at the BFI London International Film Festival and had it’s hometown premiere at Melbourne International Film Festival and continues to screen at festivals nationally and internationally.



In 2015 Billie completed a Screen Australia funded Director's Attachment with Glendyn Ivin (PUBERTY BLUES, GALLIPOLI, THE LAST RIDE) on the ABC series THE BEAUTIFUL LIE.



Currently Billie is in postproduction on DEADLOCK, a series she has written and directed for the ABC.

Billie was selected from over 200 applicants Australia wide to attend a writers room with UK Skins creator Bryan Elsley run by Every Cloud Producers Deb Cox and Fiona Eagger.
