(b Brooklyn, New York 1905; d London, England 1983) American painter. Ogden Pleissner grew up in Brooklyn and took his first trip to Wyoming at age sixteen. He spent two summers traveling through Yellowstone Park and a third summer he spent on a ranch where he did much drawing and sketching. In the 1920s he studied under Frank DuMond at the Art Students League in New York. In 1930 he took a job teaching drawing and painting at the Pratt Institute where he taught for several years. Almost every summer for seventeen years Pleissner and his wife moved to Dubois, Wyoming. Through these visits he drew inspiration for his artwork and met many of his future collectors.
