        14 kt., inlaid turquoise, abalone shell, coral and black onyx, with maker's mark, ap. 12.4 dwts. gross. Size 6 1/4. Native American Zuni artist Veronica Poblano is internationally recognized for her innovative approach to traditional Zuni silversmithing and lapidary forms. The daughter of famed Zuni artist Leo Poblano, one of the first to popularize the carved and inlaid mosaic work of the 1940's that later became emblematic of the tribe. Veronica's work has been featured in many publications and exhibitions, perhaps most notably in the American Museum of Natural History show "Totems to Turquoise." Coral: medium deep slightly reddish orange, few with porous texture and growth lines, good luster. Turquoise: medium light slightly greenish turquoise blue, good luster. Abalone shell: violetish blue and green play-of-2color, good luster. Minor scratches on reverse. 2 3/8 x 1 1/4 inches.
