      This beautiful, brightly colored canvas depicts Venice's most famous square from an elevated perspective, providing a wider frame for the composition. The horizontal line formed by the facades of San Marco and Palazzo Ducale in the background contrasts sharply with the vertical shape of the bell tower, while the Procuratie buildings flanking both sides of the square add depth to the perspective. A large stage where parties, celebrations, or simple moments of everyday life take place and where fellow citizens, nobles in disguise, plebeians, dogs, judges and street vendors coexist in a sweet aesthetic synthesis. The painter's composition is characterized by a particular style that follows the tradition of the great Venetian masters, and adapts her urban landscapes to a modern style with impressionistic features and an abundance of quick colored brushstrokes.

Blick über den belebten Canal Grande auf Venedig mit seinen prachtvollen Bauten am Ufer, von denen zu erkennen sind die Piazzetta mit den beiden berühmten Säulen, dem Dogenplatz, der Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana und die Kuppeln des prachtvollen Markusdoms, dem Uhrenturm und den hohen, in den Himmel ragenden Campanile. Auf der Wasserstraße einige Gondeln, Fischerboote und eine prachtvolle goldene Fregatte mit hochgestellten Rudern. Zahlreiche Figuren auf den Schiffen und am Ufer beleben das Bild. Malerei in raschem Pinselduktus, unter hohem blauen Himmel mit größeren weißen Wolkenformationen. Kleine Rahmenschäden.       ANSICHT VON VENEDIG Öl auf Leinwand. 89 x 145 cm. Rechts unten signiert „L. Ponga“. Blick auf Venedig mit dem belebten Canal Grande mit zahlreichen besetzten Gondeln und ein großes Gebäude mit hohem Turm und Gartenanlage. Auf der rechten Bildseite führt die Wasserstrasse unter einer kleinen Brücke durch in die Stadt, vorbei an flankierenden Prachtbauten, aus deren Fenstern lange gelbe und rote Vorhänge ragen. Einige Boote mit hohen gelben Segeln ankern hier am Ufer. Im hohen Himmel zahlreiche dichte, weiße Wolkenformationen. Verso kleine Unterlegungen. The varnish is somewhat discolored. The relined canvas bears craquelure in places. The framed dimensions measure 97 x 128 cm, the dimensions of the canvas are 70 x 100 cm.
