The sketchy black outlines are filled with dynamic colour fields. Characteristic is the uniform of the French Garde Impériale with the typical hat decorated with a feather and military medal as well as his blue sash. The sheet is signed and dated lower right ‘Popov. V. 12’. It is in a good condition showing only slight signs of age and wear such as tiny marginal blemishes. It is lightly corrugated and mounted on the upper edges. The frame shows few traces of use as well. The back cover is inscribed, dated and titled in pencil. It further shows the measurements and use of material in pencil. The sheets dimensions are 58 x 42 cm. Victor Popov (born 1952) Victor Popov was born in Kazakhstan in 1952. He studied at the School of Applied Art in Lviv, Ukraine. In the Mid 80s he was a member of the artist group ‘The Island’ in St. Petersburg and worked as a free artist ever since, holding numerous exhibitions.
