      Two Antique Framed Etchings. John Poppel (mid 19th century) �Girard College in Philadelphia� Steet Engraving, Open edition. Signature: John Poppel SC. Designed 1850-1860. John Poppel, active between 1850-1860, designed this etching of the Girard College in Philadelphia. The founder, Stephen Girard, founded the school with a vision of educating poor, white, male orphans. Opened in 1848, the building was designed to be �Greek Revival� stone architecture. Size: 7 � in x 5 � in (18 1/3 x 14 cm). Provenance: Ursula Hobson fine art framing, inc. Philadelphia. Condition: Not examined outside of frame, Slight wave in paper, possibly slight damage upper right corner. �Die Bank Der Ver Staaten� Steel Engraving, Open edition. Signature: Institute in Hidlburghausen. Published 1850. Etching by an unknown German artist of the first bank of the United States based in Philadelphia. Originally a page from a book. Size: Frame(13x5 in) Print(7 � in x 5 � in). Provenance: Ursula Hobson fine art framing, inc. Philadelphia (2006). Condition: Not examined outside of Frame. Slight waving and imperfections in paper.
