1882; Original 46" height x 36" Width, Portrait of Lillian Homes Penick Rountree (13 March 1869-20 January 1912) This portrait of Lillian Homes Penick Rountree was possibly commissioned by her father, Sgt. Giles Albert Penick before his death (b. 5 May 1843 - 10 October 1881) or her eldest brother, Douglas McGill Penick (b. 1867- d. 11 May 1934). the family lived in Culpepper, Virginia at the time. Thence by descent to her daughter, Mrs. M. F. Ellis of Charlotte, NC (b. 5 November 1897 - d. 21 August 1986); thence by descent to her son, the Rev. Dr. George P. Robinson of Winston-Salem, NC (b. 12 November 1932 - d. 12 March 2018), thence by descent to Dr. Robinson's children, the current owners. Oil on canvas of seated lady at piano. Signed lower right J.
