The stretcher is wired for hanging horizontally, but either orientation would be possible. Provenance: Private Collection, Palm Beach Florida, by descent.   This lot is available for truck shipment to points along the I-95 corridor at a flat rate of $1000 (including Shipper's full coverage for damage or loss). Flat rate includes first-floor delivery within 50 miles of Interstate 95 (I-95) extending from PBMA in Lake Worth Beach to Massachusetts, including but not limited to Washington (D.C.), Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), New York City (New York), New Haven (Connecticut), Providence (Rhode Island), and Boston (Massachusetts). Note: Professor Poulos, Professor Emeritus of Painting and Drawing, Rice University, Houston, Texas; has directed and taught the Rice Studio Art in Greece program for nine summers and has been an artist-in-residence at the Ecole des Beaux-Art in Paris and the University of Georgia in Cortona, Italy. Basilos Poulos is a Greek-American artist who came to Rice University in 1975. Poulos has had over 35 one-person exhibitions in the United States and Europe and his paintings are featured in notable public, private, and corporate collections such as Columbia Museum of Art (Columbia, South Carolina), Mint Museum (Charlotte, North Carolina), The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, New Orleans Museum of Art, Vorres Museum (Athens, Greece), and Chase Manhattan Bank (New York and Athens, Greece). Professor Poulos has lectured throughout the United States, Greece, and Italy and is currently working on developing one-person exhibitions in both Houston and Athens, Greece. Professor Poulos lives in Houston and maintains a studio in Karies, Greece.His awards and grants include: The Guggenheim Fellowship, French Government Grant (for eight months in Paris), Mellon Enhancement Grant, the Fine Arts Foundation of Atlanta Grant, and the Phi Beta Kappa Award for Excellence in Teaching.
