        Prachensky, Markus: Ohne Titel

        Est: €4,200 - €5,000

Ohne Titel Mischtechnik auf festem Velin. 1970. 106,5 x 76,5 cm. (Ingrid Mössinger, in: Markus Prachensky, Ausst.-Kat. Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz 2004, S. 6). - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalogue.

Visits to the Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia in Rome Provenance: Galerie Elisabeth und Klaus Thoman Innsbruck- label on the reverse Family Collection, Tyrol Es sind leuchtende Bilder von gedrängter Ausdruckskraft. Wolfgang Fleische. Markus Prachensky, Löcker Verlag, 1990 These are luminous pictures of intense expressiveness. Added to this is the - at least for Prachensky - astonishingly expanded colour palette: in addition to the new, unfamiliar blue, yellow, along with the reds, browns, and greens, has been given a wholly warm tone.... The result is far from melancholy (as Prachensky once hinted at in conversation). The sun shines over Etruria here. Wolfgang Fleischer.

Markus Prachensky 1976 Is non-representational abstract? There is no painter who does not - consciously or unintentionally - carry his imaginary museum around with him. Markus Prachensky 1976 ...This is especially true for Prachensky himself: in a sense, every successful picture changes the landscape from which it originated. That is why, during that whole journey, he could not help but constantly associate the images that came out of his years of preoccupation with Puglia back to the landscape. This resulted in the series Puglia marina Murge. These are immensely powerful, moving pictures with strong layering in the upper part of the image, in which the upright bars sometimes almost lead to a cross shape; but it is this conclusion of the Puglia series that is least referable to transposed landscape perspectives; it is instead a sort of farewell summary. Markus once mentioned - with the usual admonition to be cautious with such metaphors - that our journey together had sometimes played out like a film in his mind's eye during the work. This comparison gave me the idea of describing an aspect of movement in his paintings - the splashing, the flowing of the colours beyond the edge of the picture, in short: the traces of the rapid painting movements - as a visible passage of time and thus as a dimension for which there are hardly any other means of expression in painting. His pensive hum was not at all encouraging; nor was his only comment: "Well...well...if you want!". "Lastly, one sees as one paints. The paintings are stronger, they almost swallow the landscape." ... Wolfgang Fleischer – from: Markus Prachensky, Löcker Verlag, 1990

Rugged rock formations mark the uneasy border between land and sea. Bare rocks jut out into the sea, often offshore. Each of a different shape. Sometimes they stand alone. watercolour on paper signed lower right 27,5 x 19,8 in framed Markus Prachensky is considered one of the most important representatives of Informel in Austria. While his early works follow strict geometric compositions, from the 1960s onwards Prachensky develops an unmistakable tachist style that is oriented towards international Informel and is expressive. It was during this period that he discovered his preference for the colour red and declared it his colour of life. For the artist, red represents the ideal means of expression to express his artistic vision. The work, created in 1964, impresses with its dynamic brushstrokes and explosive splashes of colour, giving the work an unmistakable characteristic of the artist.

(Innsbruck 1932–2011 Vienna) Montanara, signed, dated Prachensky 71, lacquer on cardboard, on hardboard, 55 x 46 cm, framed Provenance: Private Collection, Germany Dorotheum, Vienna, 25 November 2009 Private Collection, Lower Austria Prachensky returned to Vienna and exhibited at the Galerie St. Stephan at the start of 1971. He had had enough of moving around, but his health and circumstances did not yet permit him to stay in one place. He had recuperated in Seefeld and then moved on to South Tyrol. That year he produced small paintings on panels, Montanara with two reds and one green; the relationship to the landscape is clearly visible in these calm layers; they prepare the way for his great Arsenal series of the coming year.
