Walter Prankl Sold at Auction Prices

b. 1935 -

The Austrian architect Walter Prankl completed his studies at the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna in 1965 with a degree in architecture and urban planning. He then worked in various architecture offices. From 1976 to 1980, Walter Prankl was engaged as media, exhibition and PR specialist for the Federal Ministry for Health, Family and Youth in Vienna, 1980-1987 as media and exhibition specialist and senior teacher at the Volkshochschule Munich. Since 1987 Prankl operates amongst others in the fields of environmental design, visual communication, graphic design and education.

      Ten sheets: Watercolor, some with indian ink, chalk, on different paper Österreich, presumably 1970s/1980s Walter Prankl (b. 1935) – Austrian architect and mixed-media-artist Each signed lower right ‘W. Prankl’ in pencil and some titled or inscribed Sheet size: from 32.2 x 60.3 to 61.3 x 76.2 cm Mostly good condition In quick, sketchy brushwork, the Austrian architect has captured cityscapes in these ten works. Most of these views are in earthy colors, but one is executed in black and white and two others with only very reduced color accents Two of the ten cityscapes are designed as a decorative circular image, two others in a nearly square dimensions are executed on Austria drawing cardboard (blindstamp). Together, these ten works give an interesting insight into the artistic work of the architect. All of this ten works are signed lower right in pencil ‘W. Prankl’, some are additionally titled or inscribed. They are carried out in different partly used papers. The sheets bear studio stains and signs of use, some with small damages. Most sheets are in good condition The sheets measure from 32.2 x 60.3 till 61.3 x 76.2 cm.
