      Important figurative work dedicated to the Farnese Palace in Caprarola, the masterpiece of Mannerist architecture designed by Vignola and Sangallo and decorated in fresco by the Zuccari brothers. Folio, (515 x 360 mm). Engraved frontispiece, portrait of the dedicatee, engraved dedication, engraved index, 21 plates numbered I-XXI including two double-page spreads, 15 plates numbered I-XV, 5 folded plates (slightly browned but in good condition). Conteporary mottled calf, title gilt to spine, spine gilt (a few defects). (1)

      Georg Caspar von Prenner (1720 Vienna - 1766 Rom) after Anthonis van Dyck (1599 Antwerp - 1641 London): Portrait of Amalie zu Solms, 18th century, Copper engraving Technique: Copper engraving on Paper Inscription: At the lower part inscribed in the printing plate: "Prenner Incidit", "Ioan Godefridi". Date: 18th century Description: Portrait of Countess Amalie zu Solms-Braunfels, later Princess of Orange and Countess of Nassau. The sitter, portrayed in a kneeling position, wears a splendid gown with a conspicuous collar and ornamental ribbons. She holds a fan in her right hand, her lightly curled hair frames her face, and she gazes reservedly at the onlookers. In the summer of 1619, Countess Amalie came to the Heidelberg court and was appointed lady-in-waiting to the Countess-Curate of the Palatinate and later Winter Queen, Elisabeth Stuart. After her flight from Prague, Countess Amalie came with the royal family to The Hague in the spring of 1621. It was probably there that she met the Flemish Baroque painter Anthonis van DYCK, who later painted her portrait.
