A man stands with tattered clothes, clenched fist and a revolver in his right hand looking like he is ready to fight. His wife peers from what looks like a closet door with lawmen escorting out an intruder with a glowing lantern to light the way. The floor in the bedroom shows signs of a struggle with clothes turned out of a suitcase and thrown around on the floor. Signed lower left "Norman Price". Housed in a molded gold frame with fabric liner. SIZE: overall 21" x 33", sight 15" x 27 1/2". CONDITION: surface all original with no sign of in-painting or restoration. Very good.         Norman Price (Canadian/American, 1877 - 1951), "Studies of a Woman," pencil on paper, unsigned but created on Price's personal letterhead, with gilded nameplate and label verso from Swain's Art Store in New Jersey, measures 8.50 x 6 inches to the matt edge, overall 14.75 x 12 inches framed. CONDITION: Good, toned, matt with discoloration. Illustrator, Norman Mills Price was born in Brampton, Ontario (1877) and began his studies at the Ontario School of Art. Around 1901 he spent time in London, studying at the Westminster School of Art; and with Cruikshank. While in London, he was the founder of Carlton Studios. He later went on to Paris, studying at the Academie Julian, with J.P. Laurens and R.E. Miller. He had a studio in New York City, and worked for such publication as Harper's, Cosmopolitan, and Liberty.
