Eine für einen Ball festlich gekleidete junge Frau in Dreiviertelfigur sitzend leicht nach rechts, der Kopf dem Betrachter zugewandt und in der Rechten eine Ball-Maske haltend. Im Fuß 4 Zeilen Verse in englischer Sprache. Schabkunstblatt, “Ch. Coypel pinx.t”, “R. Purcell fecit”. “London Printed for H. Parker & E. Bakewell, opposite Birchin Lane in Cornhill, price 1s 6d”. PM 35,2 x 25, Blattgr. ca. 41,5 x 28,5 cm. (14) Chaloner Smith, Purcell 56. Die Beschreibung der Zustände des Blattes durch Chaloner Smith ist verwirrend. Im 1. Zust. trug das Blatt offenbar keine Verse. Wahrscheinl. handelt sich vorliegend um den 2. Zustand. Ein späterer Zust. des Blattes trägt nur die Herausgeber-Adresse H. Parker. Das Blatt Purcells ist eine seitenverkehrte Darstellung des Stichs von Pierre-Louis Surugue aus dem Jahr 1746. Le Blanc geht bei der Beschreibung dieses Blattes (Le Blanc 4) davon aus, dass es sich bei der Dargestellten, deren Name Surugue unterdrückt, um “Madame Mouchy” (Anne de Noailles 1729-94) handelt. Chaloner Smith, Purcell 56, schließt sich diesem Urteil Le Blancs für das Blatt Purcells an, obwohl dieser in den Versen im Fuß ausdrücklich auf Madame de Pompadour Bezug nimmt. Es bleiben allerdings Zweifel. Altersmäßig könnte die Dargestellte eher die 1721 geb. Marquise von Pompadour sein. – Voller Plattenabdruck mit breitem Rand. Kontrastreicher, der Darstellung angemessener nicht zu schwerer Druck. Nur im Rand minimale Erhaltungsmängel.
