Purser Sketches by Capt. R. Elliot, R. N. Engraved by W. Le Petit The Pass of Makundra Fisher, So &ampC London, 1833". Very nice depiction of an Indian landscape with mighty trees and crumbling houses along the way. William Le Petit was a British copper and steel engraver. He was active from about 1829 - 1857.         William Purser 1790-1852 the house where lord byron died, missolonghi, greece signed l.r.: W Purser and inscribed verso: Original Drawing of Missolonghi/(by Purser)/Shewing the room in which Ld Byron/died watercolour over pencil heightened with bodycolour, scratching out and gum arabic 13.5 by 20 cm., 5 1/4 by 8 in. Missolonghi is a port on the Gulf of Patrai in west central Greece. It was a Greek stronghold during the Greek War of Independence in the 1820s and Byron died there of a fever in 1824
