Oil on panel Signed: "TVP". On the reverse, two handwritten labels, one describing the biblical passage and the second with information about the author: "Putten (Thomas). École Flamande vers 1589. École de Paul Bril. Tobie et l'Ange - Paysage. I signed par initial TVP in bas au milieu. Bon matin in Automne, brouillard sur les montagnes. Ce tableau de l'école by Paul Bril lui a été attribué, (...) qu'à Vinckeboons. Il n'est point des coloris by Paul Bril; il n'est pas du dessin, nor de la composition des Vinckeboons: d'ailleurs la signature ne laisse pas de doute sur sa provenance. Les productions de Putten are (..) rare! ". The author, also called Thomas van de Put, Thomas van de Putte or Thomas Puteanus, is known for having illuminated the famous "Evangelical of Quercentius", kept in the Grand Curtius museum in Liege.
