Il présente deux tiroirs latéraux pivotants et deux tablettes en verre enserrées sous un plateau carré incurvé à l'arrière. Celui-ci repose sur un piétement composé de deux colonnettes adossées reliées par des traverses tournées cylindriques et arqués. L'ensemble des faces de la chaise et du bureau sont agrémentés de motifs géométriques et floraux incrustés de nacre et de laiton. Signature incrustée «E Quarti». Vers 1898. H : 79 cm L : 79 cm P : 51,5 cm Chaise : H : 91 cm l : 29 cm P : 36 cm (anciennes restaurations, légers accidents et fentes) An exceptional and rare rosewood desk and seat. The desk has two pivoting side drawers and two glass shelves and stands on a base composed of two small columns joined by arched crosspieces. Eugenio Quarti (1867-1929): An Indian Rosewood, Silver, Copper and Mother-of-Pearl Quatrefoil Table, circa 1900, the circular glass top on four inlaid roundels, above a square shelf on a sinuous inlaid frame, signed in silver inlay E.Quarti, diameter 51cm, 68cm high Eugenio Quarti (b.1867) was born into a family of carpenters and at the age of 14 was apprenticed to a cabinetmaker in Paris. He spent a few weeks in Milan in the studio of Carlo Bugatti, and after a few months he established a small workshop in Via Donizetti. Quarti's earliest works were exhibited at the Esposizione Internazionale d'Arte Decorativa in Turin in 1898. His room at the 1906 Milan exhibition was destroyed by a fire.
