    CORNELIA SAGE (American, 1876-1936) HAYSTACKS oil on canvas; signed Cornelia Sage, l.r.; 7 3/4 x 11 inches; framed: 19 1/4 x 22 1/2 inches Other Notes: Cornelia Bentley Sage Quinton, a native of Buffalo, New York, studied at the Art Students Leagues in Buffalo and New York and at the Ecole du Louvre in Paris. She served as the Director of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery from 1910-1924 making her the first woman director of a major art museum in America. She also served as the Director of the California Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco from 1924-1930. Her exhibitions included the New York Watercolor Society and the Societe des Beaux Arts in Paris, 1916.
