This is a striking photograph by noted artist, Ben Magid Rabinovitch (1884-1964) dating to the 1920s. Rabinovitch was a photographer, gallery owner, and founder of the Studio Gallery Photography School (later renamed the Rabinovitch Photography Workshop). An active participant in national photographic salons, Rabinovitch mingled with various groups of photographers. The most important one-man exhibitions of his work took place in 1922 at Bookery Gallery, in 1934 with "Theatrical Portraits" at the Studio Gallery, and in 1945 with the "40 Year Retrospective".
