BIOGRAPHY: John Rae (July 4, 1882 - October 16, 1963). After graduating from Pratt Institute High School, Brooklyn, in 1900 he attended the Art Students League of NY and was a student of illustrator and artist Howard Pyle. Rae authored and illustrated a number of Children's books, including the better known: The New Adventures of Alice, Grasshopper Green and the Meadow Mice, and Granny Goose. He contributed illustration material to over 50 books, as well as magazines of the day. He was listed in Who's Who in America from 1926-1958. He was Instructor of Painting and Design at Rollins College, Winter Park Florida, from 1935 to 1940.
